    Community Helper Interviews

    Week 4 Activity - Detailed Instructions

    Learning Objectives

    • Students will learn about different community jobs
    • Students will practice asking questions and listening skills
    • Students will understand how community helpers serve others

    Materials Needed

    • Simple recording device or tablet
    • Prepared interview questions
    • Clipboards and pencils
    • Thank you cards
    • Camera for photos

    Preparation Steps

    • 1Arrange visits from 3-4 community helpers
    • 2Prepare age-appropriate interview questions
    • 3Practice interview skills with students
    • 4Set up comfortable interview space

    Step-by-Step Instructions

    Welcome community helpers and introduce them to students

    Review interview expectations and manners

    Have small groups take turns asking prepared questions

    Record responses (with permission) for later review

    Take photos of students with community helpers

    Have students draw pictures of what they learned

    Create a class book featuring all the interviews
