    Community Places Walk

    Week 4 Activity - Detailed Instructions

    Learning Objectives

    • Students will identify and locate community places
    • Students will observe details about their neighborhood
    • Students will practice mapping and directional skills

    Materials Needed

    • Clipboards with simple maps
    • Pencils and crayons
    • Camera
    • Safety vests or bright clothing
    • First aid kit
    • Parent volunteer helpers

    Preparation Steps

    • 1Plan a safe walking route with interesting community places
    • 2Recruit parent volunteers for supervision
    • 3Prepare simple maps for students to follow
    • 4Check weather and dress appropriately
    • 5Notify school administration of walking field trip

    Step-by-Step Instructions

    Review walking safety rules and expectations

    Give each student a clipboard with map and pencil

    Walk to planned community locations
